SI Dusit’s Scholarship Programme
Our programme focus lies on the education of women following the motto: 'Through education, help others to help themselves'. The scholarship programme started in 1995 and has since supported 1491 students to achieve education. Unlike other organizations, which sponsor students per year, our goal is to support students on a continuous basis. On average, the scholarship for a student is six years, and there are many success stories of girls who graduated from high school and even university. Donations are always welcome! If you are interested in sponsoring a student, please e-mail us at sorofficers@sid.in.th.
A scholarship costs between US$ 80 – 130 (THB 3000 to 5000) per year, a small investment compared to the benefits the students and the society receive. The following is a letter sent to us in December 2009. This student is part of the "Thailand Hill-tribes Education Programme" , which is run by Susan Race and Khun Panwaadee. SI Dusit supports 6 students from this programme

Hello, my name is Wilairat R_____
I am currently studying in secondary school, year 4 at Boripat Seuksaa in Mae Sariang. Now I am very happy to be studying, even though sometimes I find studying a problem, I am still happy.
My family leads a simple life but they are happy. I hope your family is happy too?
Do you have any questions you may like to ask me? What my family does every day?
Some days when we don’t have food, I have to find vegetables and also catch fish from the canal, which I cook.
In my free time I collect water from the well. I also help clean and do anyhing to help my mum with washing and cooking.
My family is working class but we have a sufficient life and try to save money.
I promise to be careful when I use your money and I promise to show respect to my parents and teachers.
